I Sette Consoli
When I first started planning the dates for this trip I kept in mind that I Sette Consoli is closed on Wednesdays. I had to move things around so that I wasn’t in Orvieto on a Wednesday! For my first night in Orvieto the first thing I did was reserve a table here. They only have 19 seats so I knew it wasn’t going to be easy.
If there is a better restaurant in Orvieto, in Umbria, I don’t need to look for it. I Sette Consoli was perfect from start to finish, the ambiance was so comforting and harmonious, the service was attentive and knowledgeable - and pretty!, and the food was outstanding. Unfortunately for me I ran out of stomach room for dessert.
I was very curious about Orvieto wines that cannot be found where I live, they had a few, one a Muffa Nobile in which the grapes are left late into the season to develop Botrytis Cinerea, the kind of thing you usually expect in a Sauternes. That coupled perfectly with the cheese selection.
