The Normans conquest of Sicily took place in stages but culminated in 1061, five years before the more famous Norman conquest of England, in fact much of what they learned the hard way in Sicily was employed in their success at Hastings, and some Normans who fought in Sicily also participated in the Battle of Hastings. ⁣
